August 05 Into the holeThe expectations and unreasonable standards in the Bay Area are astounding. It's not enough to have millions of dollars, and it's no longer feasible to track to millions of dollars if you're just on a 9-5. It's unlikely to gain traction in a get-rich-quick-or-die-trying endeavor, without connects, and it's not likely to get a strong mesh of connects without heading into higher education - at least, temporarily. The vicious cycle of elites. I know full well what I'm headed toward, but still...its pull is great. I look around sometimes - parties with friends, at work, and I get this uneasy, unreasonable feeling that I haven't been keeping up with the Kennedys and the Reddys - that I'm somehow the least educated person in the room. This, coming out of the best public school in the country. Unbelievable. So it's high time that I'm getting back to plowing hard work into a greener, affluent future. My GMAT class starts next week. My new job at EA does too. I'll be sequestered until at least late October; it's been nice knowin' ya.
